General Questions
What is Soult Digital?
Soult Digital is a secure digital legacy platform. It allows you to organize, store, and plan for the transfer of your digital assets, memories, and important information to your loved ones after you're gone.
Why do I need a digital legacy service?
In today's world, much of our lives are online—from photos and social media to financial accounts and important documents. Without a plan, these assets can be lost forever. Soult ensures your digital footprint is managed according to your wishes.
How is this different from a physical will?
A physical will primarily deals with tangible assets. Soult complements your will by managing your digital assets, which are often not covered. We provide a secure way to pass on passwords, account details, and digital files, which is not safe to include in a public document like a will.
Who is Soult Digital for?
Soult is for any adult who has a digital presence. Whether you're a parent wanting to preserve memories for your children, a professional with digital financial assets, or simply someone who wants to make things easier for their family, Soult is for you.
Is Soult Digital available outside of India?
Currently, our services are tailored primarily for Indian laws and regulations, such as DPDP compliance. While you can sign up from anywhere, the legal framework and nominee verification processes are optimized for India.
How do I get started?
Getting started is simple. Just click 'Get Started', choose a plan that suits your needs, and begin organizing your digital life in our secure vault. The process takes only a few minutes to set up.
What happens if Soult Digital shuts down?
We have a robust continuity plan. In the unlikely event of a shutdown, we have provisions to ensure your data can be securely exported and delivered to you or your nominees, ensuring your legacy is never lost. Our data is stored on resilient cloud infrastructure like AWS.
Can I use Soult for my business assets?
Soult is designed for personal digital legacy planning. While you can store information related to your business, it's not a substitute for formal business succession planning. We recommend consulting a legal professional for business assets.
Security & Privacy
How secure is my data with Soult Digital?
Security is our highest priority. We use bank-grade, end-to-end encryption (AES-256) for all data. This means only you can access your vault's contents. Not even our employees can see your information.
Where is my data stored?
Your data is stored on secure, encrypted servers with Amazon Web Services (AWS), one of the world's leading cloud providers, with data centers located in India to comply with data localization laws.
What is end-to-end encryption?
End-to-end encryption ensures that your data is encrypted on your device before it's sent to our servers and can only be decrypted by you on your device. This prevents anyone in the middle, including us, from accessing your sensitive information.
Are you compliant with data protection laws?
Yes. We are fully compliant with India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act and follow global best practices for data privacy and security. We are also working towards ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 certifications.
How do you protect my account from unauthorized access?
We use multi-factor authentication (MFA) to secure your account. This adds an extra layer of security, requiring a second form of verification in addition to your password to log in.
Will you sell my data to third parties?
Absolutely not. Your privacy is paramount. We will never sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties for marketing purposes. Our business model is based on subscription fees, not data monetization.
What happens to my data after my passing?
After your passing is verified, your data is securely transferred to your designated nominees according to the instructions you've set. They will be granted access only to the specific information you have allocated to them.
How do you verify a user's death?
We have a multi-step verification process. Your nominee initiates the process and must provide a legally recognized death certificate. Our team then verifies the document's authenticity before proceeding with the legacy transfer protocol.
Pricing & Plans
How much does Soult Digital cost?
We offer several subscription plans to fit different needs, including a basic free tier. Our paid plans, like Foundation, Family, and Legacy, offer more storage, more nominees, and advanced features. Please visit our Pricing page for detailed information.
Is there a free plan?
Yes, we offer a free plan with basic features to help you get started with securing your digital legacy. It includes limited storage and a smaller number of nominees.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
Yes, you can change your plan at any time directly from your account dashboard. When you upgrade, you'll get immediate access to the new features. Downgrades will take effect at the end of your current billing cycle.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, UPI, and other popular online payment methods in India through our secure payment gateway partner.
Is this a one-time payment or a subscription?
Our plans are based on an annual subscription model. This ensures we can continuously maintain the platform, provide top-tier security, and be there for your family when they need us.
What happens if my subscription lapses?
If your subscription lapses, your account will enter a grace period. We will notify you multiple times to renew. If the subscription is not renewed, your account will be deactivated, but your data will be securely retained for a period before being permanently deleted as per our data policy.
Family & Nominees
What is a nominee?
A nominee is a trusted person you designate to receive access to your digital assets and information after your passing. You can appoint one or more nominees and specify exactly what each person can access.
How many nominees can I add?
The number of nominees you can add depends on your subscription plan. Our premium plans allow for multiple nominees, enabling you to assign different assets to different people (e.g., financial info to your spouse, personal memories to your children).
Do my nominees need a Soult Digital account?
No, your nominees do not need to have a paid Soult account. When you add them, we will securely store their contact information. They will be contacted by us with clear instructions on how to access the information you've left for them when the time comes.
Can I control what each nominee sees?
Yes, absolutely. Our platform gives you granular control. For each item in your vault, you can decide which nominee(s) can access it. This ensures private information is shared only with the intended person.
How are my nominees notified?
Once your passing has been verified, we will reach out to your nominees using the contact details you provided. They will receive a secure, private link and instructions to begin the process of accessing their designated part of your legacy.
Can I change my nominees?
Yes, you can update your nominees and their permissions at any time from your account settings. We recommend reviewing your choices periodically, just as you would with a traditional will.
What if my nominee passes away before me?
It's important to keep your nominee information up to date. We recommend appointing at least one secondary or backup nominee for this reason. You will receive periodic reminders to review and confirm your legacy plan details.
The Vault & Features
What kind of information can I store in my vault?
You can store a wide range of digital information: login credentials for online accounts, important documents (IDs, deeds, insurance), financial account details, digital photos and videos, personal letters, and final wishes or instructions.
Is there a storage limit?
Yes, each plan comes with a specific storage limit for file uploads. Our plans range from a few gigabytes to much larger capacities for extensive photo and video collections. You can see the specific limits on our Pricing page.
Can I store passwords securely?
Yes, our vault has a dedicated, encrypted section for storing usernames, passwords, and 2FA backup codes. It's a much safer alternative to storing them in a spreadsheet or notebook.
What is the 'Afterlife Message' feature?
The Afterlife Message feature allows you to record video, audio, or written messages to be delivered to your loved ones after you're gone. It's a powerful way to share final thoughts, memories, and words of comfort.
How does the 'Social Media Shutdown' feature work?
You can provide instructions and credentials for your social media accounts. After your passing, we can assist your nominee in carrying out your wishes, whether that's memorializing the account or permanently deleting it.
Can I access my vault from my phone?
Yes, our platform is fully responsive and accessible from any modern web browser on your desktop, tablet, or smartphone. We are also developing dedicated mobile apps for iOS and Android.
What are 'Final Instructions'?
This section allows you to leave clear instructions on practical matters, such as funeral preferences, care for pets, or handling of specific personal belongings. This helps reduce the stress and uncertainty for your family during a difficult time.
Can I upload any file type?
You can upload most common file types, including PDFs, Word documents, images (JPEG, PNG), and videos (MP4). If you have a specific file type concern, please contact our support team.
Legal & Compliance
Is Soult Digital a legal will?
No. Soult Digital is not a legal will and does not replace one. It is a tool to manage and transfer your digital assets, which often fall outside the scope of a traditional will. We strongly advise you to have a legally valid will prepared by a qualified professional.
Does my nominee become the legal owner of my accounts?
No. Your nominee is granted access to the information you've stored. The legal ownership of assets (like bank accounts) is still governed by law and your formal will. Soult provides the *keys*, but the legal framework dictates ownership.
How does Soult comply with Indian IT laws?
We operate in full compliance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the DPDP Act, 2023. This includes data encryption standards, user consent protocols, and secure data handling procedures.
What happens in case of a legal dispute among nominees?
Soult Digital will act based on the instructions you have set in your vault. We cannot mediate family disputes. In the event of a court order or legal injunction, we are bound to comply with the legal process.
Can I use Soult to specify guardianship for my children?
No. Designating a legal guardian for minor children must be done in a legally executed will. You can express your wishes in your Soult vault as a personal note, but it is not legally binding.
